Studio Arkademie MING DH PLUM BLOSSOM A5 Portrait Notebook Sleeve, White
Inspired by Chinese Ming Dynasty's ( 14th to 17th century AD ) Dehua white porcelain ware in the Singapore's Asian Civilisations Museum's ( ACM ) Porcelain Collection, the leather notebook sleeve features the 'Plum Blossom Trio' motif which symbolizes hope, resilience and perseverance in the face of adversity. The trio-blossom motif also parallels the ancient Chinese tune of 'Three Variations of Plum Blossom' ( 梅花三弄 ), representing three aspects of the endearing flower.
Dehua White ware, also commonly known as Blanc de Chine in the West since 19th century, has been one of the most celebrated porcelain produced in the Fujian Province of China. The ACM boasts one of the finest Dehua porcelain collections in this region.
4-oz SULLY goat leather from the legendary French tannery ALRAN is used for the construction of the sleeve. Every petal and branch is hand-cut and unique, and hand-stitched onto a leather base. Waxed threads are used to strengthen the seams and bind the leather components. The entire sleeve is saddle-stitched for extended durability - a traditional and time-honoured method in fine leathercrafting.
